Myths About Baby Milestones Can Effect The Future of Your Baby!

* Do you believe what others say about milestones your
baby needs to hit?
* Do you run out to buy every suggested tool and
recommendation?
* Do you believe everyone’s “way” to be sure your baby
gets the best?
If you pay attention, you will repeatedly hear the same
things.
We will discuss three myths you will hear most often.
Myth #1: Absence of clear achievement of baby milestones is
an indicator of superior intelligence.
Actually, when the child doesn’t master a normal milestone,
this may be an indication that the child is unable to
accomplish such a skill. This milestone that is absent could
be a vital skill that your child will need in the future.
These absent milestones may be due to muscle disease or
neural problems that prevent normal development. Lack of an
ability could also be congenital in nature.
If an infant does not crawl, her hands cannot experience
tactile stimulation and this child may have problems holding
a pencil or pen when she gets older and difficulty writing.
Myth #2: My child is so smart there is no need for her to
demonstrate every milestone.
Actually, baby development is the same throughout the world.
Development occurs through the same neural pathways
universally so, every baby milestone should be achieved at
the same specific point in development no matter where a
child grows up and regardless of her intelligence.
Specific skills are developed in a specific order with a
specific corresponding sequence. Babies do not have their
own individual rules of development and even very gifted
children follow the same rules mastering the different baby
milestones in sequence.
An example of a missed milestone is the common pattern of
boys who spend their days playing outside refusing to play
with or build puzzles. Many of them will struggle at school
finding it difficult to organize information struggling over
words and sentences when they read or when they copy
information from one place to another. They could have
developed such basic skills by playing with and building
puzzles.
Myth #3: All babies master milestones automatically. There
is no need for me to understand them.
Actually, there is no need to understand milestones … If
all things are perfect. But, things are not always perfect.
It cannot be assumed that infants will automatically master
all skills in the right sequence. Many children don’t master
all skills and they struggle years later when they are in
school.
Summary: Taking note of the skills that are not being
developed and taking corrective action can help prevent
these future problems.
