Communication is the reason why a baby cries. This sweet
little baby that at the click of your fingers can turn into
a fit of tears, is simply craving for your sweet attention.
It is a pattern that all infants are accustomed to in all
cultures in the world.
A baby will cry the most during its first three months of
life. Although the quantity of crying does steadily
increase, the time period may vary from an hour to most of
the day depending on the child, and this is considered to be
within the normal range. Babies have also been referred to
as howling tear factories.
It has been thought by many, that a baby cries more during
the afternoon period, which would account for the mother’s
anxiousness, or the stressed mood of the father after he has
returned home from a day at work. However, it is the most
common assumption nowadays, that babies do in actual fact
have an automatic screening ability which they use in order
to stop all noise that may stimulate a certain amount of
response from them so that they can receive adequate rest.
This however, weakens and completely disappears during the
approximate age of six weeks.
There are many different reasons as to why a baby cries. It
is a major job for parents to understand the reasons why.
Listed below are some reasons as to what your baby is trying
to make you understand when crying.
Hunger
Your baby will certainly cry to inform you that its tummy is
rumbling. This is in fact one of the most common reasons as
to why a baby cries, especially during the early months.
The pattern of crying when hungry could be characterized as
being persistent, demanding and almost rhythmical. However,
that rhythm is not at any rate close to becoming musical.
Boredom
A baby will cry when trying to inform you of its boredom,
which may make some people think that they are just plain
spoiled. However babies really are built like this and
simply wish to say “get me a life here will you!” Babies
need a great deal of stimulation aside from food and
attention. It is when they do not receive what they want,
that they burst into a fit of crying. The basic trick is to
pick them up and play with them. This may be seen as
spoiling the child and frowned upon by many people, however,
it is essential to know that stimulation is also one of the
major necessities of an infant and in fact and it will
certainly not do any harm to provide it with such
stimulation during its growing age. The boredom cry can
also include sobs and moans.
Discomfort
Another reason why a baby will cry is because of pain. It
is essential to remember that they are small bundles of joy
that need attention when injured or in pain. This crying is
generally louder and more demanding, sometimes resulting in
shrieking and screaming.
Disturbance
It is guaranteed that a baby will howl when they are just
about to fall to sleep and then suddenly get surprised by a
noise or sudden movement. An illness that causes discomfort
can also result in a baby bursting into a fit of crying.
